Teymourtash historical house in central Tehran

The historic House of Teymourtash, aka Museum of War, is a building constructed with a mixture of Indian, Russian and Persian architecture.

The historic House of Teymourtash, aka Museum of War, is a building constructed with a mixture of Indian, Russian and Persian architecture dating back to about 160 years ago in Qajar era, central Tehran, Iran.   

The house has been registered on the National Heritage List in 2004.

Located in Hor square in central Tehran and on a street called War Street, the house is home to weapons, including the artillery donated by Russia after the Treaty of Turkmenchay.

Built in 1931 in two stories, the house belonged to Abdolhossein Teymourtash, the then defence minister of deposed Reza Shah, and then was converted into the War Museum.

The house is an elegant monument with beautiful brickworks and artistic plasterworks.
